The Research Library in Liberec is the inheritor of the Czech and German library tradition in Liberec. The Czech public library in Liberec was originally founded in 1904 and in 1945 it was merged with the German public library. Since 2001 the library has been situated in a new building, called Reconciliation building, near the centre of the town. Library serves as an informational, educational and cultural centre in the city of Liberec and the Liberec Region. There are 1 200 000 books in its collection.

Title: Computer lessons for seniors

- What was the impulse to start the project?
Demand from the part of seniors for computer and Internet lessons.
- What is the main topic and how do you deal with it?
Lessons consist of five meetings, each lasts 90 minutes. Each session deals with different area of Internet and computer usage. Sessions are held in a computer room in the library with computers for 14 participants. Lessons are usually once a month, if there are too many candidates, then twice a month.
- What are the results of the project? (both the measurable: publications, products as well as the educational ones: what did the participants learn? )
The participants are able to use computer and to manage Internet, which helps them in ordinary life and increase their self-esteem.
- What are/were the main challenges of the project and how do you deal with them?
Demand for these lessons is after all those years still high, so the challenge is mainly for the lecturers to keep the level of the lessons.
- Are there any further steps planed as the follow-up of the project, what kind of action did the project initiate?
The project will continue in the next year as well.
